Rosalind Lawless

“My practice is strongly influenced by my immediate surroundings. I use commonplace imagery to organise the pictorial space, looking always at the leftover cut paper and other materials that are continuously produced through and surplus to my printmaking process. I ask myself: “What would happen if I rearranged these materials and created something new? What if I introduced found materials?”

Exploring the materiality of the found and recycled materials is key to methods I want to explore. This alongside a willingness to experiment and allow the process to bring up the unexpected has underpinned this latest period of work.”

Ros Lawless (b. Glasgow, 1978) holds a Masters of Art in Printmaking from the Royal College of Art, and a BA in Fine Art Printmaking from Grays School of Art.
